Crowing About Country Style
I love my house. I have ever since I first set foot in it with my realtor. It’s not extremely fancy, or big, or in an affluent neighborhood. It’s cozy, homey, and our neighbors are stellar. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
As much as I love our home, I still have some things I would like to do to improve it. One of my ongoing projects is to add rustic charm to the décor. Our kitchen has dark brown cabinets, granite countertops, and taupe-colored walls. The white outlet covers installed by the builder are a stark contrast to the otherwise brown tones of the space.
Because we don’t have full backsplashes above our countertops, outlet covers with a more rustic, country style allow me to provide the decorating punch that I’m looking for. Wrought iron outlet covers are available in many different designs, but I am particularly drawn to the strutting rooster on the cover above. Nothing says “country” like a rooster crowing at the crack of dawn. Besides, I can pretend that he is proclaiming the goodness of my cooking! Accessorizing the rest of my kitchen around the rooster will be fun as well, since chicken accessories are apparently synonymous with country kitchens. And, for the reasonable price of $10.95 per single cover, outfitting the entire kitchen will be an affordable way to add an extra dose of cozy country style.
